Salute to Healthcare Heroes at Clara Maass Medical Center
First responders from Belleville, Bloomfield and Nutley joined in a chorus of sirens and horns on Monday in a “Salute to Healthcare Heroes” at Clara Maass Medical Center. The event took place at 4 p.m. because it coincided with a major shift change, a time when many workers could be outdoors amidst all the hooting and hollering.
“Salute to Healthcare Heroes” was the brainchild of Belleville Office of Emergency Management Directory Marty Lutz. Lutz then reached out to Nutley OEM Director Will Cassidy who coordinated the Nutley presence. Lutz also reached out and coordinated the Bloomfield presence.
“This is a wonderful idea,” Dr. Mary Ellen Clyne, the president and CEO of Clara Maass said. “The doctors, nurses and other personnel here have been working hard under extraordinary circumstances. To see their hard work appreciated will surely lift their spirits.”
