Fellowship

Our most popular and comprehensive offering, Fellowships maximize the applied transformation with comprehensive  assessment, personal development, executive coaching, strategic organizational team projects and monthly onsite sessions. Graduates become Fellows of the Physician Leadership Institute.

Through CTI’s Physician Leadership Institute’s multi-faceted Fellowship, leaders learn cutting edge leadership tools and practices from an elite team of subject matter experts and facilitators from across the country, collaborate with each other to deliver tangible improvements for their organization through strategic action learning projects, and work one-to-one with a dedicated professional leadership coach to achieve their specific leadership development goals.

The curriculum for each Fellowship includes comprehensive customized learning sessions that are based on the specific leadership development priorities of the organization and the participants.A range of teaching modalities are utilized including: in-depth case analysis, group simulation activities, interactive lectures and discussions, application-based reading and assignments, and personal reflection.

 

The core components of each Fellowship are:

  • Assessments – A 360 Leadership Success Profile, a survey of leadership and work style, a survey of conflict approach, and other assessments are utilized to enhance self awareness and provide important data regarding leadership strengths and growth opportunities.
  • Workshops and Forums – Engaging, interactive, learning sessions facilitated by thought leaders and expert facilitators from around the country
  • Strategic Action-Learning Projects – Collaborative work on a strategic initiative aimed at facilitating improvements or enhancing growth
  • Professional Leadership Coaching – One-to-one work with a dedicated Leadership Coach throughout the duration of the Leadership Institute journey

PLI Fellowship

Academy

Academies maximize the applied transformation through a customized blend of comprehensive assessment, personal development, executive coaching, strategic organizational team projects and monthly onsite sessions.

CTI’s Physician Leadership Institute offers multi-faceted Leadership Academy programs where leaders learn cutting edge leadership tools and practices from an elite team of subject matter experts and facilitators from across the country. Leadership Academies may also include strategic action-learning projects that deliver tangible improvements for the organization, and/or one-to-one work with a dedicated professional leadership coach to achieve their specific leadership development goals.

The curriculum for each Academy includes comprehensive customized learning sessions that are based on the specific leadership development priorities of the organization and the participants. A range of teaching modalities are utilized including in-depth case analysis, group simulation activities, interactive lectures and discussions, application-based reading and assignments, and personal reflection.

The key distinction between a Fellowship and an Academy is that a Fellowship includes each of the program elements listed below, whereas an Academy includes only those selected elements as determined by the organization. The Physician Leadership Academy was designed to meet the needs of organizations wanting to begin the leadership transformation journey with a more gradual approach. The Academy includes program features characterized by the same vigor as our Institute offering, but with reduced cost and time commitment constraints in mind.

An Academy structure can vary based on the needs and preferences of the organization and participants. The two primary ways are:

  • Monthly sessions – participants meet monthly (or every other month) for 1⁄2 day session onsite or at a central location
  • Quarterly sessions – participants meet quarterly for multiple day sessions onsite or at a central location

Coaching

CTI is equipped with an elite team of healthcare futurist, practice lead, CMO, and C-suite coaches to meet your strategy, innovation, and leadership development needs.

Coaching types include:

  • Group Coaching: focused on helping the group with their leadership gaps identified in the 360 and other assessments. This happens ounce or twice a month as a group call or onsite meeting. One coach is assigned per 6-9 people. Topics covered cover a wide range of leadership and team issues such as communication, collaboration, and conflict.
  • Project Coaching: This is also group coaching, but focused on helping the group solve the assigned problem and guiding them through project, team dynamic, and stakeholders buy-in. That happens ounce or twice a month as a group. One coach per project per team. This type of coaching drives accountability to deliver on the project commitments as well as teaches problem solving, project management and collaboration as a team
  • Individual Coaching: Leadership Coaching through PLI is also available to individual physicians and other healthcare leaders who want to further their skills and growth as leaders, but are not part of an organization-sponsored Leadership Institute or Academy program. Through the Leadership Coaching process with CTI, leaders are assigned a dedicated coach who will work with him or her over a designated time period to help drive skill development and facilitate progress toward the leader’s development goals. Providing the highest personal impact, this coaching focuses on the identification of development needs and the construction and execution of a personal development plan with  ongoing support. Intended for Physicians and Executives, one-to-one leadership coaching includes customized planning, learning opportunities, ongoing guidance, and accountability to enable participants to identify, develop and execute personal and professional goals and strategies with the highest impact.

 

Coaching activities may include

  • Strategy Mapping: Designing Personal Strategy Map to define the leader’s development goals and objectives, and action plan for attaining these.
  • Envisioning: Defining the leader’s driving vision, mission and values and determine his or her leadership brand – the differentiators that set them a part from similarly qualified peers
  • Assessments: Assessing leadership strengths and gaps
  • Strategizing: Prioritizing leadership development objectives and creating an action plan for growth and development
  • Executing: Implementing the plan and providing feedback, guidance and accountability along the way
  • Review and Refine: Reviewing learning outcomes and define next steps for continued growth

Online Learning

CTI offers a series of online learning modules that can be used to reinforce and supplement learning from other Physician Leadership Institute programs, or utilized to support a leader’s independent, and/or coach-supported, leadership development efforts.

If utilized independent of an organization sponsored Institute or Academy, the participating leader would begin by completing a leadership assessment (self-assessment or 360) to determine his or her development priorities. Based on assessment results, a list of recommended online learning modules would be generated.

These virtual engagements are presented using a variety of virtual learning methodologies, allowing participants to maximize their learning from the convenience their own location. Webinars can be offered individually or combined to create a leadership development series.

 

An Online Learning Series may include

  • Leadership Institute or Academy supplement – Participants in a Leadership Institute or Academy program are given access to designated online learning modules to help support and supplement their learning
  • Coach-Supported leadership development – The leader is assigned a dedicated leadership coach who will facilitate the assessment process, partner with the leader to create a Personal Strategy map, and recommend the online learning modules that best support their development plan
  • Independent leadership development – The leader completes a leadership assessment through our online system. The system then generates a list of recommended learning modules and the leader can complete the desired modules at his or her pace.

Workshop or Boot Camp

CTI’s Workshops and Boot Camps offer an immersion experience focused on one or two core leadership topics.

Participants come together for a multiple day event where they explore targeted leadership principles and skills . A range of teaching modalities are utilized including in-depth case analysis, group simulation activities, interactive lectures and discussions, application-based reading and assignments, and personal reflection.

Below are the topics from a recent boot camp focused on Leading Change and Transformation:

  • Individual Leadership Coaching: This is an individual one-on-one coaching focused on helping the individual with their leadership strategy and development areas identified in the 360 and other assessment. The coach would help the physician with their own individual development plan and on a biweekly frequency works with him/her on tangible actions to change their leadership behaviors. One coach per participant This is the ultimate transformation and accountability as it is done one-on-one.
  • Project Coaching: Group coaching focused on helping the group solve the assigned problem and guiding them through project, team dynamic, and stakeholders buy-in. That happens ounce or twice a month as a group. One coach per project per team. This type of coaching drives accountability to deliver on the project commitments as well as teaches problem solving, project management and collaboration as a team. This is always part of an Institute and an option in an Academy.
  • Team Leadership Coaching: This is group coaching focused on helping the group with their leadership gaps identified in the 360 and other assessments. This happens ounce or twice a month but as as a group call and not individually. One coach per 6-9 people. This drives learning deeper and creates a shared experience as groups. Topics covered cover a wide range of leadership and team issues such as communication, collaboration, conflict, etc. This is an option that organizations select in an Academy.
